ASABA, DELTA - As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Victor Ochei, has declared his intention to reposition Delta North Senatorial District under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Speaking to NOL24 Media Cathedral in Asaba, Ochei said the Anioma people deserve a Senate representation that prioritizes legislation, oversight, and direct impact on communities.
"Delta North has produced great leaders, but we need a new energy. A Senate seat is not for the title. It is for service," Ochei stated.
"My focus will be on 3 things: Jobs for our youths, federal presence in our roads and hospitals, and laws that protect Anioma businesses."
The former Speaker, who led the 5th Delta Assembly, noted that the emergence of NDC gives voters a credible alternative beyond the traditional parties.
"Nigerians are tired of business as usual. NDC is the platform for people who want to work, not just talk," he added.
Political analysts say Ochei’s entry into the Delta North race sets the tone for what is expected to be one of the most keenly contested Senatorial battles in the South-South in 2027.
With his experience in lawmaking and grassroots structure across the 9 LGAs of Delta North, Ochei is expected to leverage his record as Speaker to connect with voters ahead of campaigns.
NOL24 Media Cathedral will continue to track developments across Delta North as the 2027 race unfolds.
