In a significant development, the Palace of Asagba of Asaba has thrown its weight behind the creation of Anioma State, a long-held aspiration of the Anioma people. The Ochendo of Asaba, Prof. Anthony Onuora Edozien, has written a letter of support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing the bill presented by Senator Prince Ned Nwoko in the Senate.

The letter, also copied to the Senate President, Speaker of the House, and honorable members representing Anioma communities, highlights the cultural, linguistic, and historical affinities between the Anioma people and the South East region. It emphasizes the viability of Anioma State, with its abundant human and natural resources, and the need to address the imbalance in the number of states in the South East.

The Ochendo of Asaba's support is a significant boost to the creation of Anioma State, which has been a longstanding quest for the Anioma people. The letter urges all Anioma communities to support this initiative, demonstrating unity and resolve in their quest for statehood.

Senator Prince Ned Nwoko's bill has reignited hopes for the creation of Anioma State, which is seen as a solution to the insecurity and imbalance in the region.
